President's report

Hi Everyone
Hope you are staying warm through this icy winter!
It’s business as usual in AVAG - Kim and Lisa are working hard in their spare time on improving the website and including online accessible member benefits.
We have heard from IVAS that the 2017 Congress is to go ahead in Cairns, they are just waiting to hear final quotes from a couple of hotels up there and then we will be able to announce the dates so you can lock it into your diaries.
AVA renewals were due recently and the great news is we have just over 100 AVAG members including a number of new members. Fantastic to see interest in acupuncture growing and our group having the healthiest numbers we have ever had.
There has been some fabulous discussion on the AVAG forum regarding calcium supplementation for home made diets – we are truly lucky to have an amazing group of vets on hand to provide their knowledge and opinions when needed. For those who are not forum members yet we are going to send out invitations to join the AVAG forum again soon – it is a google group that you need to register for and once this is done you can log in straight from the AVAG website.
Clinical isolation in acupuncture practice can be a real problem – especially if you are the only vet who does acupuncture in your practice. The AVAG forum helps bridge the gap and allows you to ask questions of experienced members. I am really hoping this forum is something we can promote and use more often going into the future.
Cheers
Clare Ellis
