President's Report

Presidents Report

Hi Everyone!

Spring has sprung and it certainly seems that the Spring element of Wood (organ of liver the controller of sinews and tendons) is in effective because we seem to have been inundated at work with cruciate ruptures at the moment. I wonder if this is something seen commonly among other practices at this time of the year?

It is with great excitement that we can confirm the dates for the IVAS 2017 Congress – it will be held in Cairns (actual venue TBA) from August 23-26 2017. Lock the dates into your diary now – sure to be a great event.

I would also like to remind everyone that early bird enrolments for the Australian 2016 IVAS course ends on 31st October – don’t forget to tell you colleagues how awesome acupuncture is and get them to sign up! The course starts in January 2016 – see http://vetacupcollege.com.au/blog/ivas-acupuncture-course for more information.

Our Journal Editor Lisa is busy working on getting the Journal ready for publication later in the year – please forward any interesting case reports, book reviews, reports on good seminars/webinars or conferences you have been to through to her for inclusion in the Journal lisajwalter@gmail.com

Our Treasurer Sol has been given a Budget update for AVAG from the AVA and the great news is we made a good profit from the Brisbane conference. This extra income will be put towards further technical work that needs to be done with the ongoing development of our website, plus it looks like we will be able to host 2-3 free members webinars over the next two years.

I am currently in the process of sorting out dates and times for Dr Christine Thomson to present her excellent Neurophysiology of Acupuncture lecture as our first free members webinar. We may squeeze it in before the end of the year and if not definitely early next year. Dr Thomson has recently relocated from New Zealand to Alaska so working through the time zones to host a live webinar is a bit of a challenge! If anyone has any suggestions for other topics or lectures for future member webinars please let me know.

It has been good to see a few discussions go on to the AVAG Forum – don’t forget to continue to use it – there is a great wealth of knowledge out there amongst AVAG members!

All the best,

Clare
