The point of the Issue is...SI3 Hou Xi (Black Ravine)

The Point of the Issue is ………SI 3      Hou Xi (Back Ravine)  

Location:      Proximal to the metacarpophalangeal joint on the lateral side of the 5th metacarpal 

Characteristics:  Shu-stream point; Wood point; Tonification point; 

          Master point of Du Mai (Governing Vessel meridian),  Couple point of Yang Qiao Mai meridian, 

          expels Interior Wind from the Du Mai and Exterior Wind from the Small Intestine channel, 

          Clears the mind and benefits the sinews  

Indications:    Acute cervical or upper back pain, stiff neck, headache. 

           Shoulder and elbow pain, forelimb problem along the channel

          Often combined with BL 62 to treat the entire neck and back (because opens GV)

          Acute deafness( because it ends near ear), pharyngitis 

          Shen disturbance: epilepsy, mania, depression
